Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.
In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.
Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Choir
Choir is open to children in years 3 to 6 and provides our students with the opportunity to build their choral skills. Our choirs rehearse weekly and perform at a number of different engagements, both within the school and for community events, over the year such as the District Choral Festival.

Performing Arts Festival
The Performing Arts Festival is a variety performance featuring students, Kindergarten to Year 12, from public schools in the local Queanbeyan-Palerang area. The festival aims to provide schools and their students the authentic experience of performing for a large audience in a professional theatre. Typically, this involves a mixture of dance, music and drama (aligned to a specific artistic theme) which students rehearse throughout the year. Students then present their final performance at the Canberra Theatre over the course of two consecutive night-time shows.
The Performing Arts Festival is a fantastic opportunity for students to hone their communication and collaboration skills whilst building their self-esteem. At Queanbeyan Public School we accept all students who wish to participate as we do not rely on auditions or prior skills or experience. The Performing Arts Festival is about encouraging our students to explore the performing arts, build their creativity, try something new and experience a very special opportunity. The Performing Arts Festival rehearsals typically begin at the end of Term 1 or beginning of Term 2 with the final performances taking place in Term 3. When participating, we do ask that parents and carers contribute a small participation fee to help fund costuming, props and travel expenses.
